Visitors to our 260-acre lake can enjoy the experience of fishing from sunrise to sunset, paddle boarding, kayaking, canoeing or sailing, just to name a few.
We host fishing tournaments, fishing lessons, sailing lessons, paddle board demonstrations and much more recreational events throughout the year. These events are organized by Parks & Recreations and are supervised. The recent addition of the boat dock offers easier access for boats.
The entrance to Queen City Lake is located on Round Pond Road just past LaFayette High School. The address for the boat ramp and dock area is 303 Lakeview Drive.

Listed below are the ordinances set by the City of LaFayette.
Sec. 16-6. – Queen City Lake Regulations.
(a) Regulations. The following regulations shall be observed at Queen City Lake:
(1) Hours of Operation. The Queen City Lake shall be open to the public from 5:00 a.m. until 11:00 p.m. daily.
(2) Fishing. All regulations of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources Wildlife Resources Division are to be observed, including limits and quantities of daily catch. Fishing from the residential areas without permission of the property owner is prohibited.
(3) Boats. Boats with gasoline powered motors may be operated during the designated times in which the Queen City Lake is open to the public under this Section. The operation of a boat with a gasoline powered motor over idle speed is prohibited. Operation of boats of any kind within designated swimming areas is prohibited.
(4) Swimming. Swimming is permitted within designated swimming areas. Swimming in any area not designated as a swimming area is prohibited. Diving from the City’s dock is prohibited.
(5) Alcoholic Beverages. Alcoholic beverages are prohibited.
(6) Glass Containers. Glass containers of any kind are prohibited.
(7) Littering. Littering is prohibited and all trash must be removed. Any person found littering at the Queen City Lake may be prosecuted in accordance with Chapter 15, Article I, Section 15-12 of the LaFayette City Code.
(b) Bird Sanctuary. The property owned by the City within the full pool stage of the Queen City Lake, including the air space above, is hereby declared to be and designated as a bird sanctuary.
(1) It is unlawful for any person to trap, hunt, shoot or attempt to shoot, or otherwise molest in any manner any bird or wild fowl within the bird sanctuary.
(2) It is unlawful for any person to disturb or rob in any manner the nest of any bird or wild fowl within the bird sanctuary.
(3) It is unlawful for any person to discharge any firearm in such a manner that the bullet, shotgun pellet, or other projectile will pass through the air space above the Queen City Lake.
(4) Notwithstanding the provisions of this Subsection, if geese or similar birds or wild fowl congregate in an area in such numbers that they constitute a nuisance or menace to the public health or property in the opinion of the City Manager, then the City Manager shall meet with representatives of the Audubon Society, Bird Club, Garden Club, or Humane Society, or as many of such clubs are found to exist in the City, after having given at least three days written notice of the time and place for the meeting with representatives of the clubs. If, as a result of such meeting, no satisfactory alternative is found to abate such nuisance or menace, then such birds or wild fowl may be destroyed in such numbers and in such manner as is deemed necessary by the City Manager to abate the nuisance or menace, under the supervision of the Director of Public Safety.
(c) Enforcement and Penalties.
(1) The provisions of this Section may be enforced by the City’s police department and the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, Law Enforcement Division.
(2) A person found guilty of violating any provision of this Section shall be fined a minimum of $250.00, not to exceed $500.00, for a first violation; a minimum $500.00, not to exceed $1,000.00, for a second violation; and $1,000.00 for a third violation. In addition to the above fines, a person upon being found guilty of a second violation of this Subsection shall be suspended from using or being upon the Queen City Lake for a period of thirty (30) days. Also, in addition to the above fines, a person upon being found guilty of a third violation of this Subsection shall be suspended from using or being upon the Queen City Lake for a period of twelve (12) months.
